MILPITAS, CA, 25 August 2009 – Zed-3 announced today that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approved interconnection of the Zed-3 GS8 modular gateway and the Zed-3 SE150 IP PBX to the network. The TRA type approval is widely recognized by countries in the Middle East. Having this product registration certificate means that most countries in the Middle East will approve these products.

The Zed-3 GS8 modular gateway is a stand alone gateway for VoIP, PSTN, and mobile phone networks. The device connects to the PSTN using analog, the mobile network using GSM or CDMA, and the IP network using SIP. With this device a business obtains flexibility in how calls should be routed and significantly reduces the money spent on telephony, especially for the cost of calls from the internal phone system to CDMA or GSM phones. Also, the GS8 modular gateway can be used to provide phone service where there is no PSTN, such as construction sites or exhibition events. The GS8 modular gateway is compatible with most IP PBXs using the SIP protocol, is compatible with traditional (legacy) phone systems with analog circuits, and can be used separately without any PBX.

Zed-3 introduced the SE150 IP PBX in November 2007. It is a pure SIP phone system to support 150 users. There are plug in modules to support analog phones, analog connection to the PSTN, and T1 or E1 to the PSTN. It has a comprehensive automated attendant and supports voice mail on a compact flash card. The product is quickly deployed and supports remote users over the internet without the need for a VPN. It is easily managed through its HTML (browser) user interface.

“Having the type approval for the Zed-3 products dramatically increases our presence in the Middle East,” said MG Kabir, Director of Sales for the Middle East. “We have had significant interest in our products from the GCC region, and with this registration in our hand we can fulfill all those opportunities.”

In addition to the range of gateways and PBXs, Zed-3 offers a range of IP phones. Also, along with the GS8 modular gateway, Zed-3 offers the GTXT software for SMS.

Hasan Qutbi of Solution Intelligence in Dubai has been supporting the Zed-3 products for a while. "As a busy System Integrator, I am pleased to confirm that Zed-3 systems are easy to configure, manage and support,” said Mr. Qutbi. “In my business, that makes all the difference for me to be able to give compete satisfaction to my clients.”

The GTXT software provides seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook that makes sending and receiving an SMS as easy as sending an e-mail. A user can use the contacts that are already in his or her address books. When the GTXT software runs on a PC without Outlook, a user can create SMS contacts locally.

Scheduling is a powerful feature on the GTXT software. A user can schedule the sending of a message at a particular time or recurring multiple times in the future.

A user can link the GTXT software to a database. The GTXT software will extract various content from the fields of the database to create the text message. It then sends the SMS to a contact whose mobile number is also in the database. The sending of the message may be triggered by a change to a field in the database or upon a schedule. Again, the schedule could be for a single occurrence or a recurrence.
